My name is Gonzalo Camarillo and I am originally from Spain. Besides Madrid, where I was born, I have lived in Stockholm (Sweden), Helsinki (Finland), and New York (USA). I went to high school (Colegio Valdeluz) in Madrid and obtained a M.Sc. in electrical engineering from UPM (Universidad Politecnica de Madrid). I obtained my second M.Sc, also in electrical engineering, from KTH (Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, a.k.a. the Royal Institute of Technology), in Stockholm. As part of my Ph.D. studies at HUT (Helsinki University of Technology), I spent a year in New York as a visitor researcher at Columbia University.
I head the Advanced Multimedia Research Laboratory, which is part of the NomadicLab, at Ericsson Finland. My research interests include signalling, multimedia applications, transport protocols, and network security.
